NORTHWOOD’S IDOL COMPETITION

       Rules of the game:

      1.  The competition will run for seven consecutive Wednesdays beginning May 5th   from 7-9. 

           Contestants must be 14 years or older. A parent or a guardian must accompany contestants under

           the age of 18. 

      2.  There will be a maximum of 17 contestants.

      3.  The first week contestants can choose their own genre of music. 

           The following weeks music choices must fall into the categories listed below. 

           Contestants may not do the same genre twice during weeks two thru six.

                      May 5th                  Contestant’s choice

                      May 12th                Rock n’ Roll or Country

                      May 19th                Country or R&B

                      May 26th                Blues or Folk

                     June 2nd                 Patriotic or Broadway

                     June 9th                  Original or Rock n’ Roll

                     June 16th                Contestant’s choice

     4.  Contestants must bring their own music source to plug into our sound system or sing a cappella. 

          Sources  include but are not limited to downloaded backtrack, iPod, CD player, piano and guitar.      

          Contestants must have appropriate cords/plugs for connection.

     5.  Contestants must consent to have their voices and/or photos used in varying media.

     6.  Judges decisions are final.

     7.  Contestants will be playing for a charity of their choice.  (Note, you nor your family counts as a charity.)       

          Each week we will be raising money for the designated charities. The 1st thru 3rd place winners

          of the competition will have a donation made to their charity in their name. 

     8.  A contestant can receive a total of 100 points per week.  The judges will award up to 93 points

          while another 1-5 points can be earned via an audience vote and another 3 points can be

          awarded by the  raffle winner. One vote per person per week. There will be three regular judges

          and one guest judge.  Judges will award points based on the following criteria:

                   talent/skills …                                              1-10 points

                  performance/presentation …                     1-10 points

                  overall impression…                                   1- 3 points   

                  audience vote-1st thru 3rd                          1, 3 or 5 points

                  raffle winner choice                                      3 points

    9.  If a contestant is absent they may submit an entry, but there will be an automatic five-point

         deduction and no points for overall impression and audience vote.  You start with a deficit of eight points.

   10.  In the event of a tie in the final round.  The contestant that has the most total cumulative points

          will be hailed the winner.

   11.   Prizes…what are you playing for?  All participants are entered into a drawing for a $100 gift

           certificate to Eagle Waters.

               FIRST PLACE---$500 cash or a week’s stay in Mexico, a gig at Eagle Waters,

                                            surprise prize bag, donation to your charity

               SECOND PLACE $100 cash, $300 Eagle Waters gift certificate (lodging or restaurant),

                                                a set at Eagle Waters, surprise prize bag, donation to your charity

               THIRD PLACE $50 cash 12-months of Sunday Brunch for two, surprise prize bag,

                                          donation to your charity

    12.  Finally, all contestants agree to have FUN!!
